Job Summary:

The MEP Project Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and delivering mechanical, electrical, and plumbing scopes on construction projects. This role manages design coordination, procurement, installation, commissioning, budget control, schedule performance, quality, safety, and stakeholder communication to ensure MEP systems are completed on time, within budget, and in accordance with project requirements, applicable codes, and client expectations.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the planning, coordination, execution, and closeout of MEP scopes, including HVAC, electrical power and lighting, plumbing, fire protection, controls, and related building systems.
  • Review drawings, specifications, submittals, RFIs, shop drawings, and coordination documents to ensure MEP work is complete, buildable, compliant, and aligned with the project scope.
  • Coordinate with owners, general contractors, architects, engineers, subcontractors, vendors, inspectors, and internal project teams to resolve design, schedule, and field issues.
  • Develop, manage, and update MEP schedules, procurement logs, manpower plans, look-ahead plans, commissioning plans, and project milestones.
  • Manage MEP budgets, cost forecasts, change orders, purchase orders, subcontract agreements, and financial reporting to support profitable project delivery.
  • Oversee procurement of long-lead equipment and materials, verifying compliance with project specifications, approved submittals, and delivery requirements.
  • Supervise field installation activities and ensure work is performed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with quality standards, approved drawings, and applicable codes.
  • Lead coordination meetings, document action items, communicate project status, and proactively identify risks that may affect cost, schedule, quality, or safety.
  • Support testing, inspection, commissioning, punch list completion, owner training, turnover documentation, and final project handoff.
  • Promote a culture of safety, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement across the project team.
  • Perform other duties as assign.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience managing MEP, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, or construction projects.
  • Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, schedules, contracts, project controls, and field coordination processes.
  • Working knowledge of applicable building codes, safety requirements, QA/QC practices, and commissioning procedures.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, resolve conflicts, make sound decisions, and communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with common project management, scheduling, document control, and collaboration tools.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites as required.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PMP, OSHA 30, LEED, or other relevant professional certification.
  • Experience with BIM coordination tools such as Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Procore, Primavera P6, or Microsoft Project.
  • Experience managing complex commercial, industrial, healthcare, mission-critical, semiconductor, or data center construction projects.
  • Knowledge of value engineering, energy efficiency, sustainability practices, and lifecycle cost considerations.
